Works for me Wednesday

I'm pretty sure there is a group of blogs that share what works for them every Wednesday.  I am not one of them, I just couldn't come up with a better title so I stole theirs.  I'm unaffiliated.  Just thought I should disclose.  Hope it's not trademarked.

Egg-carton lunches.  I'm pretty sure I picked it up from some blog somewhere at some point in time, but it's genius.  I save my egg cartons then every couple of weeks we turn them in to lunch trays.  I put a little bit of whatever we have in each space and the kids think it is such a treat.  Probably because one of those spaces has chocolate chips in them.  It's a fun way to mix up lunch time, especially in the summer.  Just make sure it's a clean carton...lest we give the kiddos salmonella.  No esta bien.

Sugar Cereal Sundays.  Phil has a calling in our church that requires him to be in meetings from at 6:30 am on Sundays.  Stinks for him but stinks even more for me, since I'm the one who has to bathe, dress and make presentable THREE darling but perpetually messy children, and myself who rarely blow dries my hair by 9:00* am.  In effort to motivate my offspring to get ready I've instituted "sugar cereal Sunday".  Earlier in the week I/we/they pick out a box of florescent colored, partially hydrogenated corn substance dipped in sugar and ocassionally covered in chocolate, "cereal".  It then sits on our shelf--untouched until Sunday morning--when I let them have it.  But in order to have it they must be dressed with hair combed AND shoes on.  Then they wear bibs and eat themselves silly while I shower.  Works great.  Until the sugar crash during Sacrament Meeting---but that's a different blog.

*9:00 is the start time but we're usually there at 9:08.

---well that's all I've got.  Anyone else have any tricks-of-the-trade that work for them?  I've yet to establish a consistent chore chart.  Any suggestions?

I love both of those ideas. I can't think of anything creative that I do. During the summer, I let my daughter pick a different recipe and we made that that. During her school year (which has already started) I try to do the same thing with my boys that are home. I am not a creative mom--I really wish I was.

I'm so not creative. Yesterday I let Willa play with the tupperware so that she could have some new toys... That's about it.

Love it. I have seen muffin tins used as for the same things...no salmonella, but lots of muffin tins. That's all I got today...it's been a long one!
